Meet the Author: Raymond Atkins

Raymond L. Atkins author of Set List,  teaches English at Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Creative Writing at Reinhardt University. He is the author of four award-winning novels: The Front Porch Prophet, Sorrow Wood, Camp Redemption and Sweetwater Blues. South of the Etowah, his first creative nonfiction book, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. His latest book, Set List, will be published in early September. It’s a story that alternates between present-day North Georgia and the 1970s about a bar band as told primarily through the eyes of its lead guitar player, Blanchard Shankles, and its bass player, John Covey. In 2017, Atkins was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Georgia Writers Association. He resides in Rome, Georgia.

G. J. Ford Bookshop will be selling copies of Mr Atkin's book at the event, and we encourage you to purchase your book at the coffee so you can have it signed by the author. Our local independent bookstore makes many of our author appearances possible. Too many books? Why not purchase one, read it, then donate it to our book sale or the library?
