Authors

Thank you for your interest in participating in our author events! We proudly host a curated lineup of writers whose work reflects literary excellence, broad appeal, and professional publishing standards.

To maintain consistency with our programming, we typically consider authors who meet the following criteria:

  • Traditionally published through a recognized publishing house (an imprint of a major or established independent press)

  • Have received national or regional media attention, including reviews in trade publications such as Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, or Booklist

  • Have published a full-length work of fiction or nonfiction within the past 12–18 months

  • Maintain a professional author website with information about their work and events.

  • Are comfortable presenting to an audience and participating in a Q&A or book signing

We typically schedule author visits 3 to 6 months in advance to allow for adequate promotion and coordination.

Most events are held on weekday mornings at 10:30 AM, either in the St. Simons Casino Theater (capacity 180) or a meeting room (capacity 80), depending on expected turnout.

We also partner with two local independent bookstores—G.J. Ford Bookshop and Righton Books—to handle book sales at our events.

At this time, we are not scheduling local self-published authors for main Literary Guild events. However, we encourage local writers to connect with the St. Simons Island Writers, an active and supportive group for area authors. For more information, contact Melinda Farris at melinda@mfarris.me.

We appreciate your interest and your commitment to the literary arts.
