As part of The BIG READ: Coastal Georgia Reads Station Eleven, Dr. Jon Hershey from Georgia Highlands College, discusses “Art and the Apocalypse: Station Eleven and the Tradition of Art as Salvation.” From Shakespeare to comic books, as in Emily St. John Mandel's Station Eleven, art is a key to surviving the post-apocalypse blues. The presentation explores the role of art in Station Eleven, and the literary tradition of art as a means of recovering and rebuilding civilization.
