Meet the Author: Tommy Tomlinson

Saturday, January 26, 3:00 p.m. in room 108. Tommy Tomlinson and The Elephant in the Room. An acclaimed journalist, Tommy has written for publications including Esquire, ESPN the Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Forbes, Garden & Gun, and many others. A graduate of Brunswick High, Tommy spent 23 years as a reporter and local columnist for the Charlotte Observer, where he was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in commentary. He decided he had to change his life as he neared the age of fifty weighing in at 460 pounds and his book, The Elephant in the Room, a memoir about life as an overweight man in a growing America, will be published in January 2019 by Simon & Schuster. He’s a graduate of the University of Georgia and was a 2008-09 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.  

G. J. Ford Bookshop will be selling copies of Mr Tomlinson’s book at the event, and we encourage you to purchase your book there and have it signed by the author.
