Welcome to the Literary Guild of St. Simons Island!

  • We are a non-profit organization with 800+ members.

  • We sponsor Author Talks, Films, Writing Seminars, and Writing Workshops throughout the year (see the calendar below or click on the Events tab).

  • We raise funds for the Marshes of Glynn St. Simons Island Library branch by selling donated books at our bookstore (open Wednesdays & Saturdays from 9:30-3:30) and Fall & Spring book sales.

  • We award monetary grants to the St. Simons Library for programs and projects that help it achieve its strategic goals.

  • Our annual membership fee starts at $10.

Membership

Membership dues enable us to host events and workshops and support St. Simons Library.

The membership period is from January 1 to December 31. We do not issue membership cards, but we maintain a list for admission to events.

Members enjoy FREE admission to ALL Author Events and early admission to the Spring & Fall Book Sales!


Our Resale Bookstore

530 Beachview Drive – The Casino Building

We are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30–3:30 (see calendar above).

Our selection includes – Fiction, Non-Fiction, Cookbooks, Garden, DVDs, Audiobooks,, Civil War, and more!

Prices range from 50 cents and up. Most paperbacks are $2, and hardcovers are $4.

Volunteers manage the bookstore. Credit cards accepted. All proceeds benefit St. Simons Island Library.

Book Donations

Book donations are accepted at the St. Simons Island Library anytime they are open (click for ➜ Library Hours) and the Literary Guild Bookstore during open hours – most Wednesdays and Saturdays, 9:30 to 3:30 (see calendar).

If you have many books to donate, please text/call Tony Cipolla at 609-290-8379 to arrange a pickup. Books must be in boxes – thank you.

We do not accept encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines, comic books, VHS tapes, eight-track tapes, and LPs.

SSI Writers

If you are a Literary Guild member and want to join our St. Simons Island Writers group, please email Melinda Farris at melinda@mfarris.me.

Our programs include Writing Seminars and Writing Workshops (see calendar above). In addition, we arrange manuscript critique groups for fiction, nonfiction/memoirs, and children’s books.

Book Clubs

If you are a Literary Guild member and would like to learn more about joining a Book Club, please email Erika O’Brien at erika.patoni@gmail.com

Erika will do her best to connect you with other Guild members of similar reading tastes and availability. Most Book Clubs have 6-8 members and meet monthly. After the initial introduction, Book Clubs run on their own. If you would like to see what the Book Clubs are reading, we have set up a Goodreads Group.
