Brian is Charleston’s Post and Courier’s metro columnist and a prolific author. A native of Tennessee, he has covered Southern politics for more than 20 years. His journalism has won more than two-dozen awards, including the S.C. Press Association’s Journalist of the Year in 1998. His books include Toward the Setting Sun, Ghost Ship, Raising the Hunley, When the Dancing Stopped, and City of Ruin: Charleston at War 1860-1865. He’ll visit the Guild to talk about Charleston, the city he knows so well, and his latest book, Sea of Darkness: Unraveling the Mysteries of the H.L. Hunley.
