Sara Rupnick: Women Longing to Fly

Sara divides her time between Jekyll Island, West Cork, Ireland, and Bexley, Ohio. Her collection of short stories, Women Longing to Fly, was released by Mayapple Press this past April. From Lila, who buys a handgun to ease her broken heart, to Maura, who takes a stranger to a motel, these stories introduce us to women on the brink. Sara holds a M.F.A. in Writing from Vermont College and is co-founder of Around the Block Writers Collaborative. Her fiction, nominated for a Pushcart Prize and short-listed for the Sean O'Faolain Short Story Prize, appears in literary journals in the U.S. and the U.K. She teaches creative writing for the Jekyll Island Arts Association and for Around the Block Workshops in Dublin, Jamaica, Tuscany, and Bali.
